frequently asked questions
What is included in the Color Kit (Form 3)?
It includes a Color Base cartridge, five Color Pigment bottles (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, White), measuring syringes, and a recipe book.
Which layer heights are supported when printing with the Color Kit (Form 3)?
The Color Kit supports printing at 25 µm, 50 µm or 100 µm layer thicknesses.
How do I mix a new color using the Color Kit (Form 3)?
You pick a recipe (e.g., one of 16 tested colors) or create a custom mix. Add exactly 100 mL of pigments into the Color Base cartridge, then shake for ~4 minutes to ensure proper mixing.
Can I mix the from the Color Kit (Form 3) pigments into any Formlabs resin?
No. The pigments must be mixed into the dedicated Color Base cartridge. Other resins (e.g., Clear or Durable) are not supported for color mixing with the kit.
Are there any special precautions for washing and curing parts printed with the Color Kit (Form 3)?
Yes. When washing, pigment residues can accumulate in the solvent and cause color contamination across prints. It’s recommended to decant or refresh wash solvent frequently if using multiple colors. For curing, use standard post-cure time and temperature for General Purpose resins to maintain color fidelity.
