Formlabs | Color Kit (Form 4)

$135.00

Color Kit is the first integrated color mixing system for resin 3D printing on the Form 4. It lets you create parts in a wide range of colors directly, without the need for post-processing steps like finishing, dyeing, or painting.

Each kit includes a Color Base cartridge and all five Color Pigments. By mixing these, you can print matte, opaque parts on the Form 4 in a full spectrum of colors—no painting or extra finishing required.

Application / Purpose

Enables direct 3D printing in custom opaque colors (without painting) by mixing pigments with a base resin.

Color Modes

Supports pigment mixing in CMYKW (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, White) to produce a wide palette.

Layer Thickness / Print Resolutions

Validated printing at 25 µm, 50 µm, and 100 µm layer thicknesses.

Compatibility

Compatible with Form 4 and Form 4B printers; works with Form 4 / Form 4L resin tanks and build platforms.

Finish & Aesthetics

Produces matte, opaque parts with uniform color throughout (i.e. no painting or coating needed).

Mechanical Properties (approx.)

Because the base resin behaves like other Formlabs standard resins, the mechanical properties should be comparable to standard resins (e.g. strength, modulus) — though adding pigments may shift them slightly.

Post-Cure / Processing

Post-curing is optional. Use Formlabs recommended cure times and temperatures for standard opaque resins.

Color Kit (Form 4) by Formlabs

Experience the Benefits

Consistent mechanical performance

The colored parts retain mechanical strength and stability close to standard opaque resins, making them functional as well as aesthetic.

Wide palette of colors via pigment mixing

Using CMYKW (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, White), you can mix and print custom colors, allowing greater design flexibility.

Smooth, matte finish and visual quality

Prints deliver a uniform, professional matte surface ideal for prototypes, end-use parts, product mockups, and visual models.

True full-color prints without painting

Ability to produce opaque, richly colored parts right out of the printer, eliminating the need for post-print painting or finishing.

frequently asked questions

How do I mix resin to get a desired color?

Use exactly 100 mL of pigment (in CMYKW) per cartridge. Shake thoroughly and follow Formlabs’ recipes to achieve consistent colors.

Which print resolutions are supported for the Color Kit?

Color Kit / Color Resin supports layer thicknesses of 25 µm, 50 µm, and 100 µm.

Will colored parts retain mechanical properties of standard resins?

Yes — Color Resin shares material behavior similar to Formlabs’ standard opaque resins.

Do I need to post-cure colored prints using the Color Kit?

Post-curing is optional. Use standard Formlabs wash/curing workflows.

Is it safe to dye other resins with Color Kit pigments?

No — mixing pigments into unsupported resins (e.g. Clear, Durable) may break photochemistry and void warranties.
